Who We Are (and other FAQs)

If you look at our website, there’s a menu selection for “About ONC-PDX.” Reading it, you find that the “local Portland chapter, (is) one of 10 ONC chapters in the state.” (Or it might be 11, who’s counting?) Note the difference though: We are ONC-PDX, a part of ONC. Well, what’s this ONC-PDX vs. ONC fuss about anyway, you may ask?

As mentioned, we are part of a statewide organization that includes many other chapters — some small, and some large, like us. We have a website separate and distinct from the state organization, and our URL makes it so: onc-pdx.org. This is where you log in, sign up for trips, get your Columbia Store pass, post to a forum, and more fun stuff.

The state site is onc.org. It’s worthwhile to check out and learn more about this (bigger than PDX) club. And you’ll see references to our chapter, but you can’t log in there (unless you hold an ONC office). If you try to recover your password there, and many do — forget about it; it’ll never happen. You can only log in to our chapter, or recover your password, at onc-pdx.org.

Another choice on our website menu is the Frequently Asked Questions, or FAQs. Selecting it, you’ll find questions that come up frequently or from time-to-time. The very first question is how to log in and reset your password. There’s even a video to walk you through it all! If you do request a password reset and don’t get an email, check that you’re on the right website: onc-pdx.org, not onc.org. One other tip is to use your email and ignore the username, it just seems to be more reliable.

There are many other topics you might find useful in the FAQs. You can even search the articles by keywords. I think of it as sort of a guide on using the website or where to find information and things. And if you have a question not answered there, please feel free to contact the web admins; there’s an email link from the “Contact Us” selection on onc-pdx.org.
