Intermediate Back Country Ski

Friday and Saturday night stay in the historic Tilly Jane A-Frame cabin. Park at the Tilly Jane Trailhead parking area. You’ll back country ski to the ONC-PDX managed shelter on the Northeast side of Mt. Hood, a 3 mile ski with a 1,900-foot gain up the Tilly Jane Ski Trail to the cabin at 5,700 feet elevation. Experienced intermediate skiing skills with turning ability, good physical condition and navigation/route finding skills using map, compass or GPS. Climbing skins are REQUIRED.

Participants carry their own gear, including sleeping bags, sleeping pad, toilet paper, propane for lanterns, and food for all meals. Water is obtained from the Tilly Jane Creek or by melting snow. We have a wood stove with plenty of firewood, and pots for heating water. Participants might also bring their own cooking stove and pots for meal preparation.

This is a cabin maintenance work weekend. Attendees are limited to volunteers and ONC-PDX members and their guests, who will participate in minor cabin activities including checking smoke detectors, wood supply, making kindling, rodent control, cleaning the cabin and any repairs as identified.

Please Note: No DOGS are allowed at this cabin.

Trip Limit: 15 people max, Open to ONC-PDX members and 2023 Tilly Jane Volunteers
Cost: Free. Booking priority will be given to 2023 Tilly Jane VOLUNTEERS.  Left over spaces will then be opened to ONC-PDX club members.
