After speaking with the Mt. Adams Ranger District today, I learned that they have not groomed the trails at Old Man Pass and with the expected weather there this weekend (rain), they do not expect to do so this week. As a result, I am going to postpone this trip until the trails and weather are better.
In the meantime, I STRONGLY recommend taking the ONC Ski Bus this Saturday to ski with the club and to avoid driving through Government Camp. There is PLENTY of room available. You may sign up on this website. Be sure to log in as a member and register for the bus.

Are you tired of fighting the crowds to ski on the weekend at Mt. Hood? Do you want a quieter place to ski? Let’s plan to ski in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest at Old Man Pass. This is a loop ski, using Trails 150 and 148, which are usually groomed. Start at Old Man Pass Sno-Park, head past the McClellan Sno-Park, cross the road, then return passing Koshko Sno-Park. Total distance is about 3-4 miles with options for another 1.3 miles.
Meet at Gateway Park & Ride, NE 99th Ave, north of NE Pacific Ave. at 8 AM to carpool. RT Distance: 160 miles, 2 hours, suggested carpool cost is $15. You must have a Washington State Snow Park Permit.
