In early January, we head north for 3 days of skiing at Methow Valley, Washington. Methow Trails is North America’s largest cross country ski area with over 200 km (120 miles) of perfectly groomed trails. You can enjoy classic and skate skiing trails with the beautiful scenery of the surrounding hills as you ski. Warming huts along the trails provide a great place to warm up while enjoying your lunch or a snack. The area now also offers 40 km. of snowshoe trails and endless backcountry areas to explore, for the adventure seekers. Some trails allow fat tire bikes. They are available to rent by the hour or full day at local shops. You can also take a skate ski lesson. There is something for everyone!
We will be staying in the connected condos: Aurora Borealis and Arctic Dreams. Sleeping arrangements are 4 doubles and 4 singles. We will gather in the evening for friendly potluck dinners. Breakfast and lunches are on your own. There are restaurants and bakeries if you would like to sample the local fare. There is also a grocery store for supplies.
For snowshoeing or fat biking, a trail pass is $10 a day. If you are 75 or older you can obtain a free lifetime trail pass at the Methow Trails office!
