Jan. 6 – 14, Sat – Sun following
Intermediate on groomed and non-groomed trails

This trip offers higher elevation skiing with generally great snow quality and very fun trails.  This will be my third year leading this trip and I am working to improve it each year.

We will leave Saturday, January 6 from Portland and drive to Missoula where we will stay at the Days Inn and go to dinner at The Montana Club. The next morning we will have a simple breakfast and drive to Seeley Lake for some great groomed skiing.  After skiing, we’ll continue our drive to Georgetown Lake to our deluxe house with a hot tub overlooking the lake where we will stay 4 nights.  We plan on skiing at Echo Lake, Mt. Haggin, and a groomed Nordic area by Butte.

We will then head west and ski at Mt. Haggin backcountry area or Big Hole National Monument with an option of hitting a hot spring for a soak.  We will be staying at a simple house in Conner for 3 nights, with plans to ski at Chief Joseph Pass and maybe visit a different hot spring and ski.  We will then depart and head towards home.

The Nordic Skiing will be a mix of ¾ groomed and ¼ non-groomed. If you are interested in downhill skiing, there are several close by in the area to mix it up.

For those not having enough skiing, you can ski coming or going at Mt. Spokane, or Fourth of July Pass and spend an extra night in the Spokane area.

We will plan on cooking most of our dinners and share in the cost of food for our meals. We will then divide up the cost at the end (estimate $50-60 per person.  There are options to eat out a night or two if desired.

Trip limit:  8 participants, including the trip leader
Cost: $615 per person.  Includes 8 nights lodging. Not included are carpooling expenses, meals, and a few trail fees at private properties.
Carpool miles:  Approximately 1,700 miles roundtrip from Portland including side trips
