All Abilities XC ski on groomed trails, skate ski, fat tire bike

Washington’s Methow Valley, on the West slope of the North Cascades Range, features over 200 km of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing at all levels, from riverside loops to steep and strenuous climbs and descents. Enjoy four days of world class Nordic skiing ranging from 2000 to 4000+ ft elevation. Options include fat tire biking if you are so inclined. Lessons are available for classic and skate. We plan to ski from Sun Mountain, the Rendezvous system, Mazama area, and Winthrop. The possibilities are endless with so much groomed terrain and (typically) great snow conditions.

The River Run Inn has a huge kitchen featuring a peninsula with a sink on each side. No bottleneck during food prep.  We will potluck dinners, pack lunches for the trail, and make our own breakfasts.  We have 3 double rooms for 3 couples and 3 twin rooms for 6 singles.  There are 5 bathrooms and a gas fireplace. Right across the street is the Cider House featuring live music on weekends. And right next door is the Fat Tire Bike/Ski Shop. How could anyone not love this place?

Renting skis? You are probably better off getting them at the ski shop right next door to the River Run Inn.  In the event you need to change the size or the boots are uncomfortable the ski shop is completely accommodating.

Our trailheads do not require a Sno-Park permit but we will need to purchase the groomed trail pass.  Passes run $30 per day per person or $78 per person for 3 consecutive days, 75+ ski free.

The drive to Winthrop from Portland is 400 miles and we typically allow the entire day.

Trip limit:  12 participants (including leader) If the trip is full when you try to sign up, please take a spot on the no obligation waitlist. There are almost always cancellations.
Cost:  $430 per person (exclusive of carpooling, meals, trail pass, etc.)
Carpool miles:  From Portland, 800 miles round trip, plus mileage to the ski areas
