Let’s spend Boxing Day on an Intermediate-level, season tune-up, day outing on Mt. Hood on Thursday, Dec. 26th. You will need to wear proper clothing and bring gear in working order for a 3- to 5-mile ski tour on flat trails to gentle hills, as it is still rather early in what has been an up and down season weather-wise so far. Also, all skiers will carry sufficient water for the outing, pack a lunch, and have the 10 Essentials, as well as bring cash for carpool gas money to cover the expense of the trip, or be willing to drive your own vehicle. Tentative plans are for the Government Camp area, depending on snow conditions. We would meet on the Eastside on Thursday morning before heading to the hills. This is an official ONC Day Tour, which would means participants would agree to ski with the group. I can take the first three skiers to respond in my snow car. More skiers would need to provide additional mountain-ready cars. It is better if you don’t have firm plans for the early evening immediately afterward, since mountain traffic jams can occur in the later afternoon, especially during the holidays. Please contact me at 971-325-2874 by phone or text, or reply here by no later than 9 p.m. Wednesday night, Christmas Day (Dec. 25th). Let me know your ability level, preference for trails, and if you can drive or will need a ride.
