Come join in a chance to ski the powder of the Elkhorn Mountains west of Baker City, Oregon. We will plan on carpooling over on Wednesday January 20 and stay at the Good Bear Ranch House on a 250 acre property on the edge of the National Forest. The house is at 4500 feet of elevation so if we are lucky we might be able to ski at the house. Most days we will drive to Anthony Lakes Ski Area ( base elevation 7100 ft) a 20 mile, 45 minute drive. The resort offers 30 km of groomed double track and 11 km of single track trail skiing. I am planning on several day tours of backcountry skiing in some of the adjoining valleys leaving from Anthony Lakes. Anthony lakes has a day lodge built by the CCC with food and drink available. For those interested in lift skiing it offers 1100 acres served by one lift. The Good Bear Ranch House has everything you could want in a deluxe winter cabin. It is a log house ( 5200 sq ft) with 7 bedrooms and 3 baths with two floor-to-ceiling stone fireplaces with dining table for 14 people. We will share responsibilities for 4 dinners. Bring your own breakfast and lunch. I am planning on one evening going to Baker City (14 miles) for dinner and the night life of Eastern Oregon. We will return to Portland on Monday, January 25.

Limit: 10 lucky people, including the leader
Cost: $300 per person, includes five nights lodging.
