Jan. 8-15, Sun-Sun
For Intermediate to advanced skiers, groomed and ungroomed trails. Skate and Classic skiing.

There are 2 options for getting to your dream ski vacation: Carpooling from Portland on Sunday, January 8 and making the long drive to Missoula, or leaving a day earlier and  driving to Spokane with a ski stop  Sunday at either Mt. Spokane or 4th of July pass en route to Missoula.

We stay Sunday night at the Wyndham Airport Motel in Missoula, have an early breakfast Monday morning, and then take a short drive to Seeley Lake for a day of excellent skiing.  It is groomed for both skate and classic with an excellent forest trail network as well, designed by an Olympic Skier.

After skiing we will drive for 2 ½ hours to Georgetown Lake by Anaconda, where we will stay for 6 nights at a wonderful log house overlooking the lake. We will ski at several different areas including the fantastic Echo Lake Nordic, Chief Joseph Pass, Homestake Lodge, Mt. Haggin Nordic trails.  Possibly, this is followed by a visit to Elkhorn Hot Springs (bring a swimsuit).

We will see wildlife and beautiful landscapes in this part of southwestern of Montana.  These areas have a mix of groomed and ungroomed ski trails and no crowds. If you are interested in lift skiing, Discovery Basin is a very nice downhill ski area next to Echo Lake Nordic.

We will plan on shared breakfasts and dinners at the Georgetown Lake property.  Plan on bringing your own lunches. Most of these ski areas are volunteer-run and they request donations, so bring some small bills to donate for grooming.
