New Year’s at Black Butte Ranch

Basecamp:  Black Butte Ranch, OR

Celebrate the New Year in the peaceful setting of Black Butte Ranch. Settle in by the fire with a congenial group of Nordic skiers and enjoy good food, wine and interesting conversations after an invigorating day in the outdoors.  The accommodations are a large house with one king bedroom, three queen bedroom  and two bunks.

This central Oregon location is close to skiing on Santiam Pass and in the Three Creeks area south of Sisters. The Mt.Bachelor Ski Area, which boasts access to prime backcountry skiing as well as groomed trails, is only 32 miles away. Not far from Bachelor are the Swampy Lakes and Virginia Meisner Nordic skiing areas.  If the snowpack is low, hiking is always an option; from the panoramic Smith Rock to along the Metolius River, where otters play in its clear waters.  

Amenities at Black Butte Ranch include community hot tubs, sauna and swimming pool. For those who want to take a break from outdoor activities, the historic town of Sisters with its restaurants, bakery, bookstore and various shops is close by.   This trip is sure to appeal to everyone who wants to relax and escape the humdrum of daily life.

Cost: $310 per person, includes four nights of lodging.  Excludes cost of travel and meals.
