Come enjoy a bike ride this Thursday, July 22, on the famous Trolley Trail, along converted trolley tracks from Milwaukie to Oregon City. The ride is on mostly fairly level paved bike trails, with some some low-traffic surface streets, and a few crossings with lights.
We will leave from my house in SW Portland (address given with RSVP – plenty of parking), down through the Riverdale Cemetery, over the Sellwood Bridge, then south on the Springwater Corridor to the Trolley Trail to Oregon City. We will probably stop for lunch at local food carts. Depending on the group’s preference, we may return the same way OR along the bike route and paths along the west side of the Willamette River, through West Linn and Lake Oswego, and up through Tryon State Park Bike Path (uphill) back to my house.
We will be able to pick organic blackberries in my yard at the end of the ride.
Total distance is about 20 miles, mostly flat (easy) except for one hill, riding about 10-12 mph (intermediate). Ride time of about 3 hours. We will regroup at major points with stops for bathroom breaks. Plan to start riding by 10 am and finish about 2 pm or so with stops. Weather forecast is for sunny, warming to about 82. Should be beautiful. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, helmet, repair gear, $$, a mask (in case), and be COVID-free and vaccinated.
My house is 2 blocks from the top of the Riverdale Cemetery Hill, near Lewis and Clark College, off Terwilliger Blvd. Directions will be sent after signup. Please email me for any questions. Hope to see you. Ted Scheinman, tedskier@gmail.com.
