Intermediate Back Country Ski

Friday and Saturday night stay in the historic Tilly Jane A-Frame shelter on Mt Hood. Park at the Tilly Jane Trailhead parking area. You’ll back country ski to the Friends of Tilly Jane Cabins managed shelter on the Northeast side of Mt. Hood, a 3 mile ski with a 1,900-foot elevation gain up the Tilly Jane Ski Trail to the cabin at 5,700 feet. Experienced intermediate skiing skills with turning ability, good physical condition and navigation/route finding skills using map, compass or GPS. Climbing skins are REQUIRED.

Participants carry their own gear, including sleeping bags, sleeping pad, toilet paper, propane for lanterns, and food for all meals. Water is obtained from the Tilly Jane Creek or by melting snow. We have a wood stove with plenty of firewood, and pots for heating water. Participants might also bring their own cooking stove and pots for meal preparation.

We close the cabin once a month during the ski season (Jan-April) and invite volunteers and ONC members to spend a weekend at the cabin.  Light cabin maintenance chores will be completed during your stay including checking smoke detectors, measuring the wood supply, making kindling, rodent control, cleaning the cabin and making any identified repairs.  Attendees are limited to TJ volunteers and ONC-PDX members and their guests.

Please Note: No DOGS are allowed at this cabin.

Trip Limit: 15 people max, Open to 2024 Tilly Jane Volunteers and ONC-PDX members
Cost: Free. Booking priority will be given to 2024 Tilly Jane VOLUNTEERS.  Left over spaces will then be opened to ONC-PDX club members.
