On Valentines Day we headed North to look for that pot of Canadian White Gold. Our first ski location was Nipika Mountain Resort,. We got in a day and half of very nice groomed classic skiing in a wonderful setting in British Columbia.
Our next stop was Lake Louise where we did a wonderful loop starting on the Moraine Lake Trail, then cut up to the Fairview Trail, and down to Lake Louise, then out across the lake, and returned on the loop trail back to the Moraine Lake Trail Head.
In Canmore we settled in to a schedule of gourmet meals every night and new ski trails each day. We skied at Peter Lougheed Park, Stoki Lodge Trail up to the Halfway Hut, Burstall Pass Trail, Canmore Nordic Center. We also hit the Banff Hot Springs and the Whyte Museum as the days got colder. But once it dropped below -15 F. us wimpy Oregonians decided to head south to home and warmer temperature’s. We enjoyed great skiing and fabulous meals. The lucky skiers on the trip, Linnea Nelson, Donna Wiench, Bill Newman, Barbara Hayman, Amy Blumenberg, Chris Potter, Susan Watt, and part of the trip, Jessica Park.
