A Great Bike Trip Returns!
The famous July 4th bike trip is going to Victoria, Canada! Plans are to drive to Port Angeles on Friday, July 1, take the 12:45 PM (or 5:15 PM) ferry to Victoria with only our bicycles (a current passport is required for entry and re-entry).
After we check in at our rooms at the University of Victoria in Victoria (in single bed rooms in suites with bathrooms and kitchens), we will ride to enjoy Canada Day with fireworks later that night. For the next three days, we will ride bicycles on Vancouver Island – The Galloping Goose Trail, the Lochside Trail, and many more local trails, returning to our lodging each night. Then we will take the 10:30 AM (or 3:00 PM) ferry back to Port Angeles on Tuesday and drive back to Portland, missing all the July 4th traffic!
All normal ONC-PDX requirements must be followed, including helmets and patch kits.
Trip limit: 12 participants, including trip leader.
Cost: $290 per person. Includes 4 nights lodging, single occupancy in suites at University of Victoria dormitories. No double rooms are available. Meals can be prepared in the suite kitchens or eaten out in restaurants. Ferry costs (passenger & bike cost of $28 each way) are not included in costs.
Carpool miles: From Portland, approximately 360 miles. Costs for carpooling are not included in costs above. We will leave our cars at Bob Vreeland’s house in Port Angeles for no cost (He is a former ONC member.)
