It seems like a contradiction, but on this trip we get to experience backcountry skiing/staying in remote cabins while skiing on pristine groomed tracks! We’ll drive up to Winthrop, staying in lodge accommodations, and have two full days to ski in the Methow Valley. Then we depart for “high country” and spend 4 nights in the famous Rendezvous Huts. We’ll need to supply our own food, but shuttles will carry all our food and gear up to the cabins. It seems crazy, but you can ski into these huts on your skinny XC or skate skis and then spend the night in a remote hut. On the last day we’ll ski out and then drive home that day.
Trip limit: 6 participants
Cost: $540 per member/person. Not included: Trail passes ($28-$32/day), carpool, food and other incidentals.
Travel miles: From Portland, 850 miles round trip, plus mileage to the ski areas
