Heather Canyon Runout

WHEN: 9-Feb-2016 / All Day

Heather Canyon Runout
(1.5 miles? / 600′?)

Not quite a steep as the road down to Trillium Lake but longer and we will have to watch for downhill skiers going back to the parking area, but no snowshoers

“One of the most scenic on Hood , following beautiful, winding meadows uphill along Clark Creek. The 2.2 mile one way Intermediate tour climbs 800 feet and offers a long downhill run. ”

Our ski will be a bit shorter since we can not go beyond the higher closed sign.

I hope it will be slow enough to stop with a simple snow plow, maybe a bit of a turn, but this will be a joint assessment since ski abilities vary. The start is the steepest part up to Clark Creek, which can be walked if need be. We will need to stay together in order to change destination if we need to.

If it is not open or too icy we will ski in the nearby nordic runs to Hood River Meadows and Sahalie Falls (usually free, or used to be, since the Nordic center is closed Monday-Wednesday it will be free anyway). Maybe ski over to the meadows for a view of Mt Hood in any event?

Let me know if you can drive.
