Backcountry Skiing: Trans-Sierra Yosemite Grand Loop – David Burdick

Description: Join David Burdick on one of his favorite ski mountaineering tours- Trans-Sierra Yosemite Grand Loop. This six-day, 77 mile, 12,000 ft of ascent traverses the Sierra Nevada over seven high cols and passes, holding an elegant line between 8,500′ and 12,000′. The route skis high ridges, passes, cirques, meadows and glaciated plateaus, reveling in breathtaking views and superb downhill runs.

Starting at Yosemite village, David and his two companions pass Merced Peak, ski along high plateau lakes, head north through Donahue Pass and onto to Mammoth Peak before heading west for a gentle tour back to Yosemite Village.
