Sunrise Trail Overnight Trip Mt Rainier National Park

Distance: 9.2 miles starting from the Sunrise trailhead

Overview: Sunrise trail head to Berkeley Park to Grand Park finishing at Lake Eleanor; then return along the same route.
Itinerary:
– Night of the 18th camp at White River Campground.
– 9am, 19 Aug depart Sunrise trail head
– Estimate arrival at Lake Eleanor approximately 3pm
– Leave Lake Eleanor 20 Aug approximately 9-10am
– Arrive back at Sunrise Trail head no later than 3pm

Highlights: Grand Park is wide open area with a great view of Mt Rainier with wildflowers and one the highlights of the Northern Loop.
Caveats:
– This is an advanced trip – please be prepared to hike long distance with a full pack.
– Participants need have the required gear (tent, pack, stove, water purification method etc…) \

Cost:
– $20 for the trip (includes permit)
– $?? gas money for carpoolers.
– White River camping sites are $20 per night

Note: There are no group sites at White River. But given the camp ground’s location it rarely fills up. So getting sites on the 18th should not be an issue.

A pre-meeting will be held before the trip to arrange carpooling and meal sharing/planning if so desired. Time and place of pre-meeting is TBD.
