SUMMARY:Mt Hood – Bennett Pass the Hard Way – Intermediate Tour
DESCRIPTION:18 November 2017 (Saturday)\nApproximately 8-10 miles with 1\,5
 00-2\,000 feet elevation gain through the day\n\n\n\nWell\, we had a wonde
 rful tour last Friday and the forecast just calls for more snow with the s
 now level\ndropping to 3\,500 feet on Saturday so it looks like winter is 
 here to stay! Let's go out\, enjoy the short days of winter and discuss wh
 at we'll eat at Thanksgiving\n\n\nFor those tired skiing the out-and-back 
 on Bennett pass\, this is a variant which turns it into a loop tour. We st
 art out by dropping into Pocket Creek on the Pocket Creek Tie trail. This 
 is a fun downhill which requires intermediate turning capability. We follo
 w along the base of Bennett ridge for a few miles until we run out of room
  and are forced to turn uphill onto an old logging road. We work our way u
 p and intersect the Bennett Ridge Trail. At this point we head back the us
 ual way: cross the famed “TERRIBLE TRAVERSE” (which will be a piece of
  cake this early in the season)\, S-curves\, and finally and fast downhill
  finish to the sno-park. This tour has a mix of road and trail skiing. Goo
 d fitness is required and intermediate level turning for trail sections an
 d S-curves. Please do not sign up for this tour if you do not meet these r
