Lightweight Backpacking: Lighten Up for Happy Joints" - Jenny Stoffel\n\nA
bout the program:\n\nUltralight Backpacking: Lighten Up for Happy Joints\n
\nDid you know that when you hike or backpack\, each pound you carry can b
e as much as quintupled as pressure on your joints as you navigate hilly t
errain? This means that a 40lb backpack puts between 60-200 pounds of pres
sure on your knees and other joints with every step on an excursion. It do
esn’t have to be that hard on your body!\n\nThis presentation will addre
ss the most effective (and cost-effective) strategies and tactics to reduc
e your backpack base weight to enable you to travel with more enjoyment an
d to go further than you otherwise might so you can have more years of won
derful backcountry trips unburdened by additional joint pain. We’ll also
discuss finding the balance between ultralight/lightweight gear and comfo
rt. Participants will be equipped with take-away resources to help transi
tion to ultralight/lightweight adventuring kits.Jenny Stoffel grew up hiki
ng and backpacking in the Colorado Rockies\, where she also spent a few su
mmers leading hiking and backpacking trips before eventually landing in Po
rtland\, where she’s taken and led a number of trips in the PNW. After s
evere ankle injuries from fall in a bouldering gym forced her to reassess
what future excursions would look like\, she did deep research into ultral
ight equipment to make more trips to the places she loves possible and has
now enjoyed 13 years of continued adventuring since those injuries. Jenny
  also enjoys bicycling\, kayaking\, swimming\, nordic skiing\, snowshoeing
and more.\n\nHope to see you in person or online!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n&nbsp\;\
