 ordic and in Oregon" - Richard Brenne\n\nAbout the program:\n\nThe History
  of Skiing\, including Nordic and in Oregon\n\nBefore about a century ago\
 , all skiing was Nordic skiing.  Richard thinks that skiing (or its likel
 y older sibling\, snowshoeing) might've been a key in persistence hunting\
 , the migration toward the Americas\, the domestication of wolves\, and th
 e first herding of reindeer.  He traces the history of skiing from its or
 igins to the present\, emphasizing Nordic skiing and finally Oregon.  Ric
 hard's grandmother Nordic skied to school in Norway in the 1890s\, he star
 ted Nordic skiing in 1972\, and used Nordic skis to climb and ski off Mt. 
 Hood\, Mt. Whitney and the slightly smaller Council Crest many times.  Hi
 s daughter and grandchildren are all avid Nordic and Alpine skiers\, like
