 ’s hiking guru takes us on an illustrated tour of a dozen new hikes he d
 iscovered while researching the just-released fifth edition of his book\, 
 “100 Hikes in NW Oregon &amp\; SW Washington.” Come discover a new wat
 erfall trail near Hood River\, an overlooked wildflower hike on the permit
 -free side of Mt. Adams\, and a new kids’ hike along the Columbia River 
 near Portland. Along the way get the latest news about fire-damaged trails
  in the Columbia Gorge\, as well as anecdotes about history\, wildflowers\
 , and more.\n\nSullivan has written 21 books about the Northwest\, includi
 ng “Hiking Oregon’s History\,” “Oregon Favorites\,“ and “The C
 ase of D.B. Cooper’s Parachute” His journal of a 1000-mile hike he too
 k across Oregon\, “Listening for Coyote\,” was chosen by the Oregon Cu
 ltural Heritage Commission as one of Oregon’s “100 Books\,” the most
