The Crater Lake rim\ , at 7\,000 feet\, averages 44 feet of snow a year. Join the ONC for the t raditional trip to Crater Lake. We’ll board the deluxe coach in Portland at 4:30 PM on Friday\, March 1 and proceed down I-5 while sharing in the world famous “Rolling Pot-Luck.” We have invited members of the Willam ette Chapter of ONC to join us. The next morning after a hearty gourmet br eakfast at the historic Prospect Hotel we’ll take a quick ride to the ri m where we’ll spend the day enjoying the spectacular snow formations and views of the lake and surrounding mountains while skiing as far as our le gs can carry us. We will separate into groups based on abilities and endur ance. A gourmet dinner will be provided on Saturday night at Prospect Inn\ , Sunday will be another day of different trails\, different tours\, and m ore exploring. We can even take a ranger led interpretive snowshoe tour. L ater in the afternoon\, we’ll board our coach and head toward home\, sto pping for a special dinner on the way\, arriving back in Portland about 10 pm.There are two types of accommodations: The Historic Prospect Inn which has one double or queen bed in each room for two people and the adjacent motel-like rooms\, which have two or three beds per room\, but everyone wh o wishes can have their own bed. The Historic Inn costs $25 per person mor e. Please indicate which you wish.Cost: Only $275 per person in motel-like building\; $300 per person in Historic Prospect Inn.
