Reservations for Tilly Jane Cabins

Backcountry ski, snowshoe, or hike to these ONC-PDX managed cabins on the east side of Mt. Hood—a three-mile ski with 1,900 feet elevation gain up the Tilly Jane ski trail to the cabins at 5,700 feet elevation. Participants carry their own gear, including sleeping bag, pad, and food for all meals. There is no running water in the cabin. There is a wood stove for heating water; you should bring your own stove, water filtration system and cooking pots to the A Frame. The Guard Station has a kitchen.

  • Experienced intermediate skiing skills required with the ability to link turns
  • Good physical conditioning required
  • Navigation skills using map, compass, or GPS or being familiar with the TJ ski trail and cabin location are required
  • Climbing skins are mandatory

These trips are NOT like the traditional ONC-PDX led overnight trips.  Attendees are responsible for finding their own way to the trailhead and to the cabin.  There may/may not be organized ski tours.  Attendees must be self reliant and be prepared to manage their own affairs.  There are two ways to stay at the cabins:

  • Public Reservations for the Tilly Jane Cabins can be made at: recreation.gov for a nightly fee collected by rec.gov.
  • One weekend each month January through April is available on a first come first served basis at no cost for ONC members and volunteers with booking priority given to Tilly Jane VOLUNTEERS.  Unused spaces will then be opened to club members. The A-Frame ONC weekends are available for reservation by Tilly Jane A-Frame volunteers who are not ONC Members.
